Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Clinical Laboratory Services. This position plays a crucial role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care across various hospital departments.

  1. Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in multiple disciplines including:
  2. Hematology: Complete blood counts, coagulation studies, blood bank procedures
  3. Chemistry: Electrolytes, enzymes, hormones, drug levels
  4. Microbiology: Bacterial culture and identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing
  5. Immunology: Autoantibody testing, serological markers
  6. Urinalysis and Body Fluids: Microscopic examination, chemical analysis
  7. Molecular Diagnostics: PCR testing, genetic analysis
  8. Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment including analyzers, microscopes, and automated systems
  9. Ensure proper specimen handling, processing, and analysis
  10. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
  11. Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
  12. Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and proficiency testing
  13. Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel, physicians, and nurses
  14. Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
  15. Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures

Qualifications

  1. Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility required.
  2. Required training in Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Immunology, and Serology as applicable.
  3. B.A./B.S. degree required.
  4. Proficiency with Windows Operating System; knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel is helpful.
  5. California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited License required; ASCP registry preferred.
  6. Current Los Angeles County fire card is required.
  7. For direct patient care, AHA BLS certification is required for CLS drawing blood donors only.

Pay Range

$49.10 - $71.19 /hour
