Job description

To receive, order, prepare, and assay laboratory samples and to perform prompt, accurate, and reliable laboratory procedures on patient specimens, as well as to evaluate, interpret, and report test results to the appropriate patient care personnel.

NYS regulations require an unlicensed individual to be employed in order to apply for a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. Immediately upon offer of employment, the unlicensed individual must apply for a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license. The incumbent must be fully licensed by NYS within 90 days of beginning in the position.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree verified by NYSDOE as meeting the requirements for full licensure of a clinical lab technologist.
• Lab Tech Limited Permit required. Lab Technologist within 9 months required.
• NYS DOE - Full Clinical Laboratory Technologist License upon hire required OR laboratory technologist limited permit required (not necessarily prior to hire, but prior to starting).
• If working with a limited permit, must obtain full licensure within 9 months of hire.
• If a hired employee meets the NYS DOE qualifications for a limited or full license, but the license is delayed due to processing time, the employee will be allowed to start training with a non-licensed LIS security that does not permit result reporting. No patient specimens will be tested or reported until a licensed NYS Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Technologist) license is granted and verified by NYS DOE.

Salary Range

$38.00 - $48.10 per hour

• Wage will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
