Job summary

Texas Health Resources is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Assistant at Texas Health Alliance in Fort Worth, TX. You will perform phlebotomy procedures, process specimens, and ensure accurate patient identification and labeling in a hospital setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and provides opportunities to work with a dedicated team in a fast-paced laboratory environment with strong safety practices and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy course preferred.
• PBT (ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures and ensures proper patient identification and labeling.
• Follows laboratory procedures for handling and processing specimens.
• Maintains safety guidelines and quality control in specimen handling and testing.

Work hours: Full-Time - Days; 40 Hours (Sunday - Wednesday; 0400 - 1430)

Here’s What You Need:

Qualifications Education

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required

Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required

Experience

• 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or
• Completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire Preferred

What You Will Do:

• For those entities performing phlebotomy, employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient
• Follows laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines
• Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens
• Follows established laboratory test procedures
• Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity
• Reports and evaluates test results
• Facilitates workflow process
• Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care
• Processes specimens
• Demonstrates ability to perform specimen processing protocols
• Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers
• Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars, ASCP seminars, Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry)
• Quality control guidelines are followed
• Quality control and equipment maintenance
• Incorporates safety/infection control measures into work practices
