Job summary

Labcorp in Tampa, FL is seeking a Technologist to join our laboratory team. The role involves evaluating specimens, performing routine and advanced testing, and maintaining instrumentation to ensure accurate results for patient care.

The position requires a science degree, active Microbiology MT FL State License, and potential certification by ASCP/AMT. Color vision testing may be required; work schedule is Wed–Sat, 4am–2:30pm, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Microbiology MT FL State License.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Education
