Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Medical Technologist to support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. You will prepare specimens for testing, perform routine and specialized tests, run quality control, troubleshoot QC errors and instrument issues, and communicate results to medical and lay persons.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field with 0-1 year experience; certification by ASCP BOC or eligibility to sit for certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline with 0-1 year experience.
• Certification by ASCP BOC or eligibility to sit for certification within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and specialized laboratory tests.
• Perform quality control and troubleshoot quality control errors.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and perform preventative maintenance.
• Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.
• Participate in continuing education.
• Recognize normal and abnormal values and adhere to Standards of Behavior.
