Job summary
Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. The MLT will prepare specimens, perform routine and specialized tests, and assist with training and continuing education.
The role includes quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintaining Standards of Behavior in daily work. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field with 0-1 year experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline with 0-1 year experience.
- Must have met the educational requirements for and passed a recognized Certification Examination for Medical Technologist (ASCP BOC). If not certified, must be registry eligible and obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for testing.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and specialized tests.
- Carry out quality control and preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and data problems.
- Train laboratory personnel in routine procedures.
- Participate in continuing education and recognize normal/abnormal values.
