Job summary

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health is seeking a Laboratory Associate to assist in operating the laboratory sections and ensuring accurate specimen handling and testing. You will access, label, and distribute specimens, perform tests, monitor quality control, and help maintain a safe, efficient lab workflow.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (MT) and preferred ASCP certification. This is a full-time evening shift at our Doylestown site with opportunities to contribute to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (MT) preferred.
• ASCP or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accessions and distributes Laboratory specimens.
• Label specimens correctly and ensure adherence to labeling standards.
• Identify specimens inappropriate for testing (hemolysis, QNS).
• Cancel inappropriate specimens with proper documentation.
• Reorder tests for cancelled specimens ensuring correct patient account, test, and date/time.
• Distribute specimens promptly to meet established turnaround time (TAT) goals.
• Perform established Laboratory testing procedures and maintain equipment as needed.
• Follow QC policies, monitor quality control and implement corrective actions.
• Interpret test results and communicate findings to the physician/nursing unit.
• Promote patient safety and comply with department policies and procedures.
