Job summary

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health is seeking a Laboratory Associate to assist in operating the Laboratory sections at 595 West State Street, Doylestown, PA. This full-time evening role supports specimen accessioning, labeling, testing, and QC to ensure timely, accurate results for patient care.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (MT) preferred and ASCP or equivalent certification preferred; responsibilities include training support and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (MT) preferred.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accessions and distributes laboratory specimens.
• Label specimens correctly and identify those not meeting standards.
• Recognize specimens inappropriate for testing (hemolysis, QNS).
• Cancel specimens with correct documentation when needed.
• Reorder tests ensuring correct patient account, test, date, and time.
• Distribute specimens to appropriate department to meet turnaround times.
• Perform established laboratory testing procedures per manuals.
• Maintain QC, troubleshoot instrument issues, and perform maintenance.
• Maintain an orderly workstation and effective shift-to-shift communication.
• Interpret test results to ensure quality patient care.
• Promote patient safety and comply with policies; confidentiality.
• Complete yearly competencies and continuing education; assist training.
