Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our UT Medical team in Knoxville, TN. This role involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, operating instrumentation, and reporting timely test results to support patient care.

The position requires a Bachelor's in a relevant science; MLS or equivalent experience, and flexibility to work every other weekend. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential to succeed in a high-volume lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
