The incumbent works in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, performing duties in the clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology. Responsibilities include performing a broad range of laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance, quality control, and coordination of reference testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical laboratory procedures (pre-analytic to post-analytic).
• Collects, processes, and prepares patient specimens for testing.
• Performs phlebotomy and specialized specimen collection with proper patient identification.
• Operates, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments.
• Conducts quality control and quality assurance for accurate results.
• Investigates discrepancies in specimens, tests, or equipment.
• Provides guidance on testing procedures and specimen requirements.
• Coordinates reference laboratory testing and shipment.
• Performs ancillary and point-of-care testing per policy.
• Delivers patient-focused service with healthcare teams.
• Assists with training, inventory management, and QA initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation, safety, and infection control policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
