Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston-Salem campus is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the Central Lab. Responsibilities include specimen handling, verification, and order processing within the EMR and LIS systems, with a focus on accurate triage and turnaround times.

The role requires an Associate's degree in MLS or related field (military MOS 68K accepted); bachelor's degree preferred and 2–3 years of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in medical laboratory science or related field; military MOS 68K accepted.
• Bachelor's degree in MLS/biology/chemistry or related field preferred.
• Two years of laboratory or specimen processing experience required; three years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and sort specimens from multiple delivery sources (tube system, courier, etc.).
• Verify acceptability of specimens before receipt into LIS.
• Process orders in EMR/Outreach systems and handle barcode labeling.
• Provide guidance to colleagues and assist with training and mentorship.
• Support quality assurance and safety documentation and pursue CE hours.
