Overview

Schedule: Primarily 2nd shift, 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with variations based on business needs, including weekend rotations.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

Under direct and constant supervision of licensed technical/clinical personnel, the Clinical Laboratory Technician II functions as an unlicensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory, performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include supporting all activities of the Laboratory Service Center operations, managing inbound/outbound calls, scheduling, patient report access and fulfillment, assisting with test orders and specimen requirements, providing price quotes, troubleshooting customer issues, supporting quality assurance programs, and performing registrations and activities for PLM’s Outreach Program. All duties must be performed with the highest level of HIPAA compliance, service excellence, and respect for all customers. The technician may take direction from a Lead or Senior level staff member.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a large laboratory or academic institution is required; clinical or research lab experience is highly preferred. Must have knowledge of medical terminology to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine. Strong customer service, communication, and critical thinking skills are highly preferred. Experience with high-volume data entry is also preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.

Pay Scale Information

$46,800.00 - $80,850.00

CHLA values each team member's contribution. Final starting pay will depend on factors such as education and experience. The listed pay scale generally applies to candidates meeting the specified qualifications. Additional compensation may be offered for candidates exceeding these requirements.
