The Personnel Board of Jefferson County in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform highly technical clinical laboratory work across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and other specialties.

• Collaborates with healthcare providers and engages with patients to collect blood, urine, and other samples for laboratory testing.
• Conducts tests and analyses of control specimens with known values in order to ensure that analyzers and other testing equipment are providing accurate measurements.
• Troubleshoots analyzers to resolve performance problems such as unacceptable quality controls results and instrument malfunctions.
• Maintains storage equipment and ensures all lab products and supplies (e.g., specimens, reagents, controls, etc.) are safely and properly stored.
• Receives specimens in lab by verifying patient’s information on specimen container matches information on lab order.
