Job summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician position at Tohono O'odham Nation Healthcare's Sells Hospital in Sells, AZ performs venipuncture, routine and specialized laboratory tests, and maintains test records and inventory to support patient diagnosis and care.

Under supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Lead CLS, the MLT handles quality control, calibrations, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with physicians to ensure accurate results and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Clinical Medical Laboratory or 60 semester hours in sciences.
• One year of work experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• ASCP/AMT/AAB MLT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs a complete variety of laboratory tests across Chemistry, Immunohematology, Immunochemistry, POC testing, Urinalysis, Blood Gas and Coagulation.
• Performs vein-puncture (phlebotomy) in the lab, ER and inpatient wards.
• Maintains quality control procedures and keeps records for QC reports.
• Assists in maintaining stock, cleanliness and general lab operations.
• Contributes to a team effort and supports routine and special testing workflows.
