An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join their team. This role involves performing essential laboratory duties, including handling and processing biological specimens, conducting testing, and ensuring a smooth workflow for technologists. Perform duties at the clinical bench in the laboratory, including receiving, aliquoting, handling, and storing biological specimens. Conduct waived testing, perform add-on testing, maintain workflow for technologists, and stock supplies as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (ASCP) required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
Minimum of 2-3 years in a related laboratory environment. Customer service experience preferred.
Organized, able to prioritize work, multi-task, detail-oriented, effective communicator, computer literate, and capable of providing detailed information. Willing to learn laboratory requirements, utilize available resources, mentor others, and perform work consistently according to procedures and protocols mandated by regulatory agencies such as CAP, Joint Commission, and NJDOH.
