Job summary

San José State University seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to provide laboratory services supporting student health operations. The incumbent performs specimen collection, testing, processing, reporting, and record maintenance in line with California licensure and laboratory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent.
• Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
• At least 1 year of CLS experience in ambulatory health settings (preferred).
• Experience with venipuncture/phlebotomy (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing, specimen collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct skin punctures and venipuncture following aseptic technique.
• Perform quality control, instrument calibration, and maintenance, with proper documentation.
• Process and label specimens for in-house and external testing, maintaining accurate patient records.
• Support laboratory operations, accreditation/licensure, inventory, training, and quality improvement.
