Overview

Clinical Lab Scientist / Specialist - Per Diem - 135905 at UC San Diego Health. Work schedule: Variable, 8 hour shifts, Sunday - Saturday. Department: Clinical Lab. Worksite: Hillcrest. Appointment Type: Per Diem. Appointment Percent: 20%. Total Openings: 1.

Pay scale information is provided in the posting and may be prorated by appointment percentage.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluate test results; perform and evaluate quality control procedures; perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide laboratory services in a timely manner and deliver customer service. Serve as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adhere to safety policies. Perform other related CLS functions as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree.
• Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
• Applicable clinical laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SoftLab LIS and Epic.
• Experience with automated instrumentation Iris IChemIQ, GEM4000, TEG, and Roche Cobas.
• Generalist skills - Hematology / Chemistry.

Special Conditions

• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range and hourly equivalent are posted; compensation may be prorated based on appointment percentage. If employed by the University, comply with vaccination policies and any applicable directives. Certifications such as BLS/NRP/ACLS may require hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment.
