UCSF Health is seeking a Per Diem Clinical Lab Scientist for the San Francisco lab. The role involves performing routine and special hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis testing in a high-volume automated setting, with accurate transcription and reporting of results.

Candidates must hold a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license and a BS degree, and be able to work with diverse staff. Prior experience in hematology and lab information systems is preferred; this is a fully on-site,

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

To perform test procedures in routine hematology, special hematology, routine coagulation, special coagulation, bone marrow/special stain section, and urinalysis. Must be able to work in a high volume, automated setting. Transcribes and reports test results, and operates laboratory equipment as needed. Follows established quality control procedures and participates in all associated tasks in the section. The test menu will vary depending on the shift.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree
• Able to work and get along with a diverse group of staff members.
• Willingness to contribute to the betterment of the lab.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Recent experience in clinical laboratory technology, preferably in Hematology.
• Experience in a high volume laboratory, doing clinical laboratory testing.
• Experience with current automation used in the clinical laboratory (preferably Hematology).
• Experience using laboratory information systems and up-to-date computer skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
