Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for Southampton Medical Center in Virginia. The PRN position requires performing routine tests on blood and tissue samples, ensuring accurate results and patient safety across the laboratory.

The MLS/MLT will conduct quality control, maintain equipment, and support physicians with timely reports. Certification or eligibility, and a minimum two years of clinical lab experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: associates degree or equivalent and completion of an MLT program.
• Must hold MLT Certification or be eligible by a recognized certifying agency (ASCP preferred).
• Two years of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or recognizing abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors that affect measurements and takes action per protocols.
• Performs quality control for all testing and validates results before reporting.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient work environment and troubleshoots equipment as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

60 semester hours including chemistry and biology + MLT program completion

50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course (last 10 years)
