Job summary

West Virginia University Health System (WVUHS) seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform and analyze clinical tests across laboratory disciplines. Responsibilities include quality control, instrument maintenance, phlebotomy, and reporting results to healthcare teams.

You will work in a hospital setting with adherence to safety, state, and federal guidelines, supporting patient care and accuracy in results. Night shift availability is noted. WVUHS is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or a chemical/biological science degree.
• Certification as Medical Technologist/MLS by ASCP or AMT preferred.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist is expected.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples in a timely, accurate manner following procedures.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
• May perform quality control summaries.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
• Complete forms and report findings to nurses/physicians.
• Interact with healthcare staff to interpret patient lab results.
• Conduct routine laboratory testing in designated areas.
• Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective action.
• Maintain patient and specimen records accurately.
