Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a MED TECH / CLINICAL LAB SCIENTIST for the night shift to join our clinical laboratory in Idaho. The role requires performing a range of laboratory procedures for patient diagnosis and treatment, with strong reliance on professional judgment and knowledge of QC and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and ASCP certification (or eligibility and timely certification).

  • ASCP certification required or registry eligible and obtained within 1 year of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and reviews scheduled QC, taking corrective actions when data is out of limits.
  • Verifies specimen labeling, integrity, and suitability before testing.
  • Performs low, medium, and high complexity testing according to protocols and regulatory requirements; reports results and critical results to physicians as required.
  • Performs phlebotomy as needed and monitors supplies to ensure availability.

HOURS: You will enjoy outstanding work-life balance with 7 consecutive days off following 7 days of being on-staff.

Skills, Knowledge, Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or equivalent certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required or registry eligible and obtained within 1 year of hire date.
What You Will Do
  • Performs, records and reviews scheduled QC. Takes immediate corrective action when QC data is outside established limits.
  • Verifies specimen labeling, integrity and suitability before performing testing.
  • Accurately performs low, medium and high complexity testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements. Reports test results accurately and appropriately. Reports critical test results to physician, nursing station or physician office according to established protocol.
  • Performs phlebotomy when needed according to laboratory policies and procedures. Monitors supply inventory and takes appropriate action to ensure that needed supplies are readily available.
