Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to perform analyses on biological specimens and support testing operations. The role requires a MLS/CLS/MT or equivalent degree with ASCP MLS certification or NAACLS-recognized qualification.

You will work under the Lab Manager and Medical Director with potential evening shifts. This non-exempt, full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within Mayo Clinic’s renowned health system.

• Bachelor-level degree in Medical Technology, MLS, CLS or related field.
• Alternate: Chemistry or human biological science degree plus MLS/CLS/MT certificate recognized by NAACLS.
• ASCP MLS certification required or HEW substitution possible.

Responsabilidades

• Receive direction from Lab Manager, Regional Director and the Laboratory Medical Director.
• Collaborate with Administration, Physicians, Allied Health Staff, patients and residents; perform analyses on biological specimens (blood/urine).
• Support operational activities to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
• Two-year tenure in this position before eligibility to transfer.
• Non-sponsorship of visas; no F-1 STEM OPT participation.

Responsibilities

• Receive direction from Lab Manager, Regional Director and the Laboratory Medical Director.
• Work cooperatively with Administration, Physicians, Allied Health Staff, patients and residents. Non-Exempt position.
• Performs analyses on biological specimens, e.g. blood and urine, to aid health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Participates in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
• Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following: Medical Technology (MT)
• Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following: Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
• Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following: Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS)
• Or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or human biological science plus Certificate in Medical laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required.
• Or Bachelor’s degree plus (MLS) ASCP Certification is required.
• An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
• Preferred Qualifications: Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) or blood bank experience preferred.
• Possess good written and oral communications skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.

Schedule Details

• Evening shift - 8-hour shift (2pm-10:30pm) with option for 10 hour shifts after training period.
• 10 hour shift hours (12pm-10:30pm) but may vary depending on staffing needs and employee availability.
• On-call Saturday overnight 1 in 11 weekends.
• Training on Day Shift (8-hour days) for 3-6 months
