Job summary

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to serve as a diagnostic expert, performing complex tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and more. You will analyze specimens, operate instruments, and ensure data accuracy for patient care decisions.

Ideal candidates possess a biology/chemistry degree, CA CLS license, and several years of hospital experience, with CLIA supervision readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Three or more years of recent hospital experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
• Must possess a valid California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist CA CLS.
• Qualifies as a General Supervisor under CLIA 88 regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens.
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of caregivers of critical values.
• Acts as a 'group leader' to assist staff and ensure a smooth workflow in the department.
• Maintains major automated equipment by performing calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Trains new employees and students in the department.
