Job summary

Dignity Health - Arroyo Grande Community Hospital in Arroyo Grande, CA is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests supporting accurate diagnoses and timely results. You will operate and maintain instruments, analyze specimens, interpret results, and ensure quality control in a fast-paced hospital lab.

The ideal candidate holds a CA CLS license, a biology/chemistry degree, and 3+ years of hospital experience; ASCP registration is a plus.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of recent hospital experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Qualifies as a General Supervisor under CLIA 88 regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs.
• Provides patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values.
• Acts as a group leader to assist other staff for smooth workflow in the department.
• Maintains major automated equipment, performing calibration and troubleshooting; coordinates with vendors for repairs.
• May train instrument leads and new staff in the department.
