Job summary

LCMC Health's West Jefferson Medical Center seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the laboratory team. You will perform a broad range of diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids, ensure specimen integrity, and support patient care through accurate reporting of results.

You will follow universal precautions, operate analyzers, supervise quality control, and contribute to the training of new staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Lab Generalist (CLG/CLS) as required by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Ability to perform diverse clinical lab testing with accuracy and attention to safety.
• Experience following hospital/laboratory policies and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens, label, accession and distribute while maintaining patient identification integrity.
• Initiate orders for blood/blood components and ensure proper handling and storage.
• Perform gram stains, bacteriology and serology procedures and maintain aseptic technique.
• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments; document maintenance actions.
• Analyze quality control data and report out-of-range results to supervisor.
• Assist in orientation and training of new staff; maintain appropriate waste packaging and disposal.

Education

Clinical Lab Generalist licensed by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as CLG or CLS
