Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join West Jefferson Medical Center in Louisiana. The role involves processing and testing blood and body fluids, reporting results, maintaining strict safety protocols, and supporting the laboratory team in a fast-paced clinical environment.

You will handle specimens from collection to result, perform serology and blood typing, and ensure quality control and compliance with infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Laboratory Generalist (CLG) with licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Ensure specimens are acceptable for testing by applying appropriate criteria and preparing reagents and controls as needed.
• Label, accession and distribute specimens ensuring patient identification integrity.
• Initiate orders for blood and blood components from the appropriate supplier.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures including serology, blood typing, antibody detection and crossmatch.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instruments; document maintenance actions.
• Analyze quality control materials and report results outside established limits to the supervisor.
• Assist in orientation of new staff; maintain proper waste disposal and documentation.
