Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or higher required.
• Two-year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or health-related specialty is acceptable.
• Two years' experience in specimen collections, processing and requisitioning required.
• Clinical phlebotomy training acceptable; certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification required/strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure requests for laboratory tests are properly ordered, cancelled, and charged to all inpatients, outpatients, and institutional accounts.
• Performs specimen collection procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
• Performs non-technical specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens from patients.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Two-year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or health-related specialty

Two years' experience in specimen collections, specimen processing and specimen requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or health care delivery system

Clinical training in a phlebotomy training program
