Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the laboratory technical staff by processing specimens, handling inquiries, and assisting with waived tests.

The role requires a high school diploma, ASCP preferred, and at least two years in a clinical lab. You will work under supervision, collaborate with nursing staff and physicians, and adhere to GLP and regulatory standards to ensure accurate patient results.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pref. Certification/Licensure: ASCP, preferred.
• Preferred Experience: 2+ years in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and GLP.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Professional demeanor with effective collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing for in-house and reference lab testing.
• Answer phones and respond to inquiries via Teams, email and Epic Secure Chat.
• Carry out general lab processes such as centrifugation, analyzer loading, inventory management, urinalysis and kit test preparation.
• Perform waived testing following approved protocols.
