Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CTBS certification required depending on location.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical setting.
• Knowledge and experience in healthcare.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, distributes, catalogs and stores lab specimens for testing.
• Retrieves lab specimens and patient files needed in the lab areas.
• Processes, packages and stores autologous tissue.
• Cleans operating rooms.
• Adheres to specimen identification policies and quality controls.
• Utilizes lab and hospital information systems and performs outpatient registration for specimens.
• Provides secretarial and clerical support for the laboratory staff, including inventory and ordering supplies.
• Responds to patient needs across age range from newborn to geriatric.
• Receives, organizes and prepares specimens for analysis, ensuring correct identity and storage.
• Logs and enters samples in databases; records storage locations and antibody screening data.
• Contacts units to request blood specimens and maintains current samples.
• Performs outpatient registration for specimens submitted by mail/UPS.
• Retrieves specimens from hospital/clinic; assists with equipment monitoring and reports issues.
