Description

Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.

Reports to: Phlebotomy Supervisor

Under the supervision and direction of a medical technologist and under CLAI88 guideline, performs pre- and post- analytical test processing areas of the clinical lab which may or may not include the following:
A. Placing specimens on the automated analyzers for analysis
B. Processes microbiology specimens for routine culture analysis
C. Performs waived and moderate testing platforms
E. Logging and distribution of patient test specimens from the processing areas in the lab to the respective test areas
F. Entering patient demographics and test orders into the automated chemistry analyzer

Minimum Education

Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Preferred
Formal Phlebotomy program with a minimum of 40 hours of clinical experience/certification - Preferred Drag Edit Delete

Required Skills
Certification:
BLS certification from approved American Heart Association or American Red Cross training center must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
CPT Certification from an approved phlebotomy certification association or similar professional certification (e.g., MA, PCT, EMT) - Preferred Drag Edit Delete

Minimum Work Experience
