Job summary

Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, ME is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant to collect and process specimens, perform data entry in the EMR, and support test ordering and specimen requirements across health centers, wards, ER and clinics.

You will help manage ABN processes at collection, maintain stock of supplies, follow safety and infection control policies, and collaborate with HIM, Billing, and Revenue Cycle to resolve laboratory-charge questions.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP or equivalent).
• Two years experience in phlebotomy and one year in specimen processing (preferred).
• Medical Terminology and healthcare setting experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process clinical specimens for laboratory testing.
• Enter data into the EMR and support test ordering and specimen requirements.
• Serve as a resource to Health Centers, Wards, ER and clinics regarding specimen handling.
• Maintain stock of phlebotomy and processing supplies and provide supplies to departments.
• Ensure safety and infection control policies are followed.
