Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the laboratory team at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital.

The role focuses on blood collection and specimen handling with attention to safety and accuracy. You will perform venipuncture and heel sticks across ages, provide customer service to physicians and nurses, and support lab operations including processing, labeling, and reporting results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient to determine proper procedure then draws blood.
• Demonstrates proficiency in newborn/infant heel-sticks; venipuncture for all ages.
• Provides clerical and technical support to the laboratory.
• Answers incoming phone calls and routes callers to appropriate department.
• Maintains, updates and distributes lab results and productivity reports.
• Assists with processing and distribution of specimens; ensures proper labeling.
