UTMB Health is seeking a Lab Assistant I or II in Lab Services for open-pooled, part-time coverage. The role supports sample processing, may include phlebotomy duties, and requires Texas licensure with relevant experience.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, patient registration support, sample handling, and consistent quality-control tasks in a clinical lab setting. Certification in phlebotomy is preferred by the employer.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 2 years related experience.
• Valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP/ACA/AMT/NHA).

Aufgaben

• Performs the essential duties and competencies in all assignments necessary for phlebotomy or other clinical related duties.
• Performs computer functions necessary for patient registration, blood collection, and specimen management.
• Determines acceptability of patient samples.
• Prepares, stores, and transfers samples for testing.
• Performs quality control procedures on equipment.
• Assists in maintaining records of inventory, maintenance, and daily quality control.
• Ability to work independently within established guidelines, apply problem-solving skills, meet deadlines and meet urgent patient, provider, and system needs.
