Wage Range

$24.25 - $37.23 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications, or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education, and internal equity.

EvergreenHealth has outpatient phlebotomy clinics located in Canyon Park, Redmond, Woodinville, Kenmore, and Kirkland.

Job Summary

Performs venipuncture and capillary specimen collection on patients. Depending on work location, performs in-house phlebotomy, in-house processing, phlebotomy in a physician office setting, or registration and phlebotomy in a patient service center. Demonstrates effective communication among laboratory colleagues, clients, physicians, medical office staff, and patients.

Schedule

Position is Monday through Friday but must be available for occasional Saturday shifts (typically once every 2-3 months).

Primary Duties
  1. Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture blood sample collections on patients of all age groups, and accurately identifies and labels all specimens following established laboratory protocol.
  2. Uses the laboratory information system or other reference laboratory’s web-based applications to independently resolve complex issues in a sensitive, caring, and timely manner.
  3. Processes all specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol including proper handling, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and transport.
  4. Responsible for collecting all insurance/financial information necessary for proper billing. Demonstrates knowledge of requirements for collecting ABN’s and filling out MSPQ information.
License, Certification, Education, or Experience
REQUIRED
  • High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to obtain required WA State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy (MA-P) Certification.
  • Certification from an approved phlebotomy-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • State of Washington Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) or equivalent.
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
DESIRED
  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory customer service or specimen processing role.
  • Previous training and competence in customer service situations with clinicians and office staff.
  • Working knowledge of government regulations such as Medicare and Washington state medical Test Site regulations.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards from College of American Pathologists (ASCP) and Joint Commission (TJC).
  • PBT(ASCP) certification.
