Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, AK seeks a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, finger-sticks, heel-sticks, and related clerical support for the laboratory. You will identify patients, ensure proper labeling, and assist in specimen processing and reception.

You will provide customer service to physicians and staff, answer inquiries, and support daily lab operations while upholding privacy and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Clinical competency within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical processes and medical terminology.
  • Privacy laws and regulations.
  • Multi-line telephone systems operations.
  • Operating a personal computer with various software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient to determine proper procedure then draws blood.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in newborn/infant heel-sticks; child and adult finger-sticks; newborn, infant, child, and adult venipuncture.
  • Ensures proper labeling and paperwork, resolving discrepancies in specimen documentation.
  • Provides clerical and technical support to the laboratory and reception.
  • Answers calls and routes to appropriate departments; provides customer service to physicians, nurses, and others.
  • Performs chain-of-custody drug collections and assists in specimen processing.
  • Maintains records, distributes specimens, and supports lab organization and scheduling.

Pay Range:$25.00 - $30.04 Performs phlebotomy on adults & children, performs finger-sticks on adults & children, performs heel-sticks on neonates, provides clerical and technical support to laboratory staff through reception, basic specimen processing, and laboratory organization.SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska.
