Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Regular full-time phlebotomy technician to perform routine and specialized blood collection for patients of all ages in a hospital setting. You will operate automated lab equipment, adhere to safety protocols, and ensure accurate data entry of test orders and demographics.

This role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, with 0–6 months of experience preferred, and a certificate of phlebotomy is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–6 months of work experience.
• Certificate of Phlebotomy preferred; licensure/certification as required by position.
• Respect and adherence to privacy, safety, and biohazard standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality venipuncture or capillary service for patients of all ages with lab orders.
• Enter patient demographic information and assays into computer systems accurately.
• Process and handle specimens according to MUSCP/MUSCP-PC guidelines and QA procedures.
• Maintain medical supplies and decontaminate assigned areas as required.
• Attend in-services, meetings, and continuing education as requested.
• Document remedial actions and communicate information appropriately.
