Job description

Position: Clinical Interoperability Engineer
Location: Remote
Company: Chamber

About Chamber

Chamber is revolutionizing cardiovascular care through cutting-edge technology and a collaborative team of dedicated professionals. We’re building solutions that enable cardiologists and care teams to gain a population health view of their patients, with tools that drive better decision-making and improved outcomes for high-risk cardiac populations.

Job Overview

In cardiology, having timely and accurate data can make a life-changing difference. As our Clinical Interoperability Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of enabling this critical information flow. You’ll shape how clinical and scheduling data moves between the Chamber platform, our data warehouse and BI solutions, and a variety of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. By bridging these critical data sources, you’ll empower cardiology practices and patient care teams to access and leverage information more effectively, enhancing clinical and operational decision-making and ultimately improving the quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
1. Integrate, Develop and Maintain Interop Solutions

Architect and implement workflows to extract and ingest clinical and scheduling data from partner EHR systems using healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, APIs), using a combination of partner-enabled, open source, and home-built solutions.

Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and clinical teams to define and refine requirements for scalable, secure, and reliable interoperability solutions.

Optimize data integration pipelines and troubleshoot issues to ensure high performance and reliability.

2. Operational Support for Early-Stage Integrations

Act as the technical and operational lead during the initial phases of new client integrations, guiding partner organizations through setup and configuration.

Diagnose and resolve data exchange or performance issues in real-time.

Document best practices in a runbook to streamline future integrations and ensure consistent success.

3. Build Scalable and Secure Infrastructure

Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and conformance to healthcare interoperability protocols.

Design and implement solutions for managing large-scale data flows across multiple cardiology practices, diverse EHR vendors, and different system modalities (cloud, on-prem).

4. Collaborate with Customers and Internal Teams

Serve as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing success.

Lead technical discussions with clinical aggregators, IT teams, and operational staff to address complex data exchange requirements.

Bridge the gap between technical possibilities and clinical needs, ensuring solutions align with real-world workflows.

Key Qualifications

Technical Expertise

Proven ability to develop and utilize RESTful and GraphQL APIs in production environments.

Experience with microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools).

Strong background in ETL/ELT workflows, data modeling, and data warehouse design.

Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, preferred) for hosting and scaling data pipelines.

Ability to implement monitoring and observability solutions for large-scale data flows

Healthcare Interoperability Expertise

Proficiency in EHR interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, APIs) and ETL pipelines.

Familiarity with common clinical data models and a proven track record in navigating healthcare interoperability challenges.

Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS preferred) and modern data warehouse and tooling solutions

Problem-Solving and Scalability

Skilled in designing practical solutions to complex data exchange and security challenges in healthcare.

Experience creating repeatable, scalable processes and tools that will support future growth.

Communication and Collaboration

Strong customer-facing communication skills: able to explain technical concepts to clinical partners and gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders.

Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and clinical operations teams in a fast-paced setting.

Nice to Have

Previous experience in cardiology, value-based care, or other specialized clinical settings.

Knowledge of scheduling systems and workflows in clinical practices.

Startup or rapid-growth environment experience, demonstrating adaptability and agility.
