Position Summary

The 9-month, non-tenure track Clinical Instructor I position requires teaching undergraduate courses in the Nutrition & Family Sciences ( NFS ) Department, mentorship of students, and service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations. This is a 9-month academic year appointment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach in Nutrition & Family Sciences at the undergraduate level. Preference is given to expertise in one or more of the following: meal management, food science, experimental foods, sports nutrition, metabolic nutrition, food economics, nutrition services administration, or clinical nutrition.
• Ability to design and teach online courses.
• Ability to participate in scholarly activities in areas of specialization.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Participate in professional service activities for the department, college, university, and professional organizations.
• Contribute to curriculum development, committee work, and community outreach initiatives.

Required Education and/or Experience

• Earned master’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, nutrition science, or a related area
• Ability to teach undergraduate level courses in Nutrition & Family Sciences with evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to student learning and development

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Two or more years of experience in higher education
• Experience with college/university-level teaching; program assessment and/or management
• Experience in interprofessional settings and desire to collaborate with other departments within the college.
• Effective communication and collaborative skills that facilitate an all-around positive environment
