Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered Washington State RN license or a multistate license recognized by Washington by the start date of appointment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Recent and relevant clinical and/or teaching experience in the specialty to be taught.
  • Master’s degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or PhD in Nursing by the start date of appointment.
  • ARNP license and at least two years of ARNP clinical experience.
  • Certification in the relevant specialty area if teaching in a specific DNP track (e.g., AGNP-PC, AGNP-AC, PMHNP).
  • Experience supporting competency‑based nursing education and integrating real-world practice.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively prepare and deliver rigorous course content that meets the academic standards befitting the University of Washington and stated learning goals for the assigned course(s).
  • Ensure that course materials and requirements are effectively communicated to students.
  • Use appropriate and effective teaching strategies, technologies, and student evaluation methods.
  • Cultivate an instructional environment that provides students with the opportunity to receive and share feedback on a continuing basis, including through regular office hours.
  • Ensure course grades are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Master’s degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing
Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing
Active Washington State ARNP license
Certification in relevant specialty area
