Job description

Clinical Instructor - Associate Degree Nursing (Part-time)

We are seeking interested candidates to join a dedicated team to fill our part-time clinical faculty pool. Please contact Kent Dickerson, Dean of Allied Health and Nursing at 252-940-6205 for further details regarding scheduling, hours, mentoring support, and other position details.

Type of Position: Faculty

Full-Time/Part-Time: Part Time

Terms of Employment: Contracted Term

Minimum Qualifications

BSN from a regionally accredited institution plus two years of clinical nursing experience required. Must be willing to meet the NCBON Rules regarding Part-Time Nursing Faculty:

  • Prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. This education may be demonstrated by one of the following:
    • (A) completion of 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses;
    • (B) completion of a certificate program in nursing education;
    • (C) nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles;
    • (D) national certification in nursing education;
    • (E) documentation of completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board;
    • (F) individuals with prior teaching experience in an academic setting seeking a faculty position shall be evaluated by the Program Director to assess each individual’s prior teaching experience commensurate with formal education in teaching and learning principles of adult education including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation appropriate to faculty assignment.
Preferred Qualifications

MSN from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Will consider applicants with experience in:

  • Med-Surgical (general, intermediate, critical care)
  • Home Health/Hospice
  • Pediatrics
Responsibilities
  • Work with the lead instructor to participate in planning and evaluation of the course and clinical experience.
  • Orienting students to their assigned clinical unit.
  • Making clinical assignments that are relevant to the associated course objectives.
  • Evaluating student clinical performance.

Estimated Hours per Week: Between 12-29 hours per week depending on instructor preference, clinical rotation assignments, and regulatory needs.

Range: Based on the College’s salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
