Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC, part of the University of Southern California, seeks a Clinical Informaticist to collaborate with leadership, clinicians, and IT teams to design and optimize Cerner builds and related IT initiatives.

The role involves defining workflows, training clinicians, and driving improvement initiatives across multiple departments, including nursing, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy. Strong communication and project coordination are essential.

Qualifications

• Req High School or equivalent.
• Pref Bachelor's Degree Degree in related field.
• Req 2 years Experience; experience to include implementation, testing, and on-going support of clinical application(s).
• Req 1 year Health Care Information Technology (HCIT) consulting work experience.
• Pref Cerner experience highly desired.
• Pref Experience as a Licensed Clinical worker or Health Care worker a plus.
• Req Must have clinical workflow experience.
• Req Self-starter with ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change initiatives.
• Req Strong presentation skills to executives and chief clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Establish clinical workflows with Provider, Nursing, Front Office, Ancillary staff, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy and other Orders workflows.
• Drive development of future state workflows leveraging clinical and application knowledge.
• Educate clinicians on appropriate system use and promotes positive experience of IT solutions.
• Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators for assigned facility.
• Provide 1st-2nd level support to end-users for clinical applications.
• Coordinate with internal resources and vendor to upgrade software or enhancements, including testing.
• Monitor project progress by tracking activities and escalating problems as needed.
• Analyze applications and make recommendations for improvement.
• Resolve problems by working with end-users and vendor.
• Support and troubleshoot interfaces for inbound/outbound.
• Define operational objectives by analyzing functions and requirements.
• Write/update user documentation and train users.
• Maintain system protocols by updating procedures.
• Represent IT on enterprise committees and identify SMEs for projects.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify SMEs for project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
