Job summary

Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a Nurse Informatics Specialist to lead EHR implementation and ongoing optimization. You will partner with clinicians and leaders to redesign workflows, ensure high-quality documentation, and support staff through technology changes.

The role emphasizes patient safety, regulatory reporting, and adoption of innovative tools such as telehealth and AI-enabled clinical decision support in a rural Critical Access setting.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license or ability to obtain one before starting.
• BSN or ADN with commitment to completing a BSN within three years of hire.
• Minimum of three years of direct patient care experience in acute care, emergency, ICU, or ambulatory settings.
• Hands-on EHR experience, including involvement in workflow redesign, implementation, or optimization.
• Strong clinical judgment, analytical abilities, communication skills, and a passion for process improvement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop training resources and support Super Users, guiding staff through technology changes.

• Lead EHR Implementation & Optimization: Serve as a clinical expert during our OCHIN / Epic implementation, supporting workflow design, testing, go-live, and ongoing improvements.
• Improve Clinical Workflows: Collaborate with nurses, providers, and department leaders to simplify documentation, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance patient care.
• Support Training & Adoption: Help develop training resources, support Super Users, and guide clinical staff through technology changes.
• Advance Patient Safety & Quality: Partner with clinical teams to improve medication safety, clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and quality reporting.
• Drive Innovation: Evaluate and support emerging healthcare technologies, including telehealth, clinical decision support, and AI-enabled tools.
• Strengthen Rural Healthcare: Develop practical technology solutions that support the unique needs of a Critical Access Hospital and its rural health clinics.
