This is a training position. The Trainee will be enrolled in a state-approved training program for the Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS). (https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/OSPHLD/LFS/Pages/Approved-CLS-Training-School-Programs.aspx)
The trainee will be trained to perform various laboratory procedures, including HLA typing by molecular methods (RT-PCR, NGS), KIR genotyping by SSP, crossmatch by flow cytometry, antibody screening by Luminex, chimerism testing by NGS, and other duties such as accessioning samples, DNA isolation, sample cryopreservation, serum preparation, inventory management, reagent preparation, QC and maintenance, and documentation.
Employment beyond the training period depends on obtaining a California license and available CHS/CLS positions at ITL. The salary and benefits are subject to UC policies. For salary details, refer to TCS Non-Academic Titles Search.
