Clinical Genomic Scientist II - Exome Analysis (REMOTE:USA)

Compensation: $105,000 - $110,000 per year. You are eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with a target of 5% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.

Job Overview:

This is an experienced reporting position for individuals, typically genetic counselors or PhD scientists, with clinical laboratory experience. Responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic test results, reviewing and summarizing relevant medical literature, and clinical information. The Clinical Genomics Scientist II should be highly proficient in variant classification guidelines and report generation protocols to meet quality and turnaround time requirements. They should also have an understanding of genomic technologies and may assist in technical troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities include contributing to guideline development and training new team members.

Essential Functions:
  • Attend and provide input at training sessions on reporting protocols
  • Suggest process and system improvements
  • Maintain expertise in clinical and technical aspects of the role
  • Interpret clinical diagnostic testing results per SOPs
  • Assess and classify genetic variants
  • Draft clear, accurate clinical reports
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, providing and receiving feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, or related field, or MS in Genetic Counseling, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar
  • At least 2 years of experience in genetic literature review, variant classification, report writing, or sequencing analysis
  • Strong knowledge of human genetics and diagnostic testing concepts
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of human genetics principles
  • Ability to evaluate genetic data and literature
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with diagnostic testing methodologies like NGS, Sanger sequencing, microarray, MLPA
