Clinical Fellow - ST3 - Paediatrics
Job Overview

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's Paediatric Department at Southend is seeking Clinical Fellows at ST3 level to join our inclusive and well-led paediatric teams on a permanent full-time basis.

The duties will be arranged with the supervising Consultant, who holds final medical responsibility. You will work alongside doctors in training (Foundation Year 2, GPVTS, Paediatric ST1 & ST2) and benefit from an educational program with one-to-one support from an educational supervisor. Support will also be provided to complete MRCPCH exams if required.

Main Duties
  • Managing patients in children’s ward, assessment unit, and ED, including participation in resuscitation scenarios.
  • Working in neonatal units, including Level 2 neonatal intensive care, managing neonatal resuscitation and conditions with senior support.
  • Managing patients in the outpatient area under supervision, participating in teaching, presentations, audits, and simulation exercises.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care for children and families.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • GMC registration
  • APLS or EPLS
  • NLS
  • Success in 2 of 3 MRCPCH papers within the last 7 years
Experience
  • 6-12 months NHS experience at ST1-3 level
  • At least 12 months in Paediatrics, including 6 months in Neonatology and 6 months in General Paediatrics
  • Evidence of paediatric capabilities as per RCPCH Progress+ curriculum
Skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
