  • Oversee quality assurance: site visits, grade audits, 90-day evaluations, and compliance with policies.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Faculty Success Specialist is a single or shared position responsible for leading and coordinating the onboarding, orientation, readiness assessment, remediation, professional development, and early transition of new clinical faculty at the assigned campus. This individual ensures consistent implementation of college-wide onboarding and faculty support standards while partnering closely with campus-based clinical leadership to promote faculty readiness, growth, and long-term success. This position focuses on new clinical faculty onboarding through successful transition to independent teaching practice.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Faculty Onboarding & Readiness
  • Coordinates and oversees onboarding, orientation, and transition support for newly hired clinical faculty at the assigned campus.
  • Ensures standardized onboarding processes, tools, timelines, and documentation are implemented consistently in alignment with college expectations.
  • Supports new faculty completion of required training, compliance items, system access, and onboarding milestones related to clinical instruction.
  • Provides onboarding to simulation environments, workflows, and expectations as it relates to clinical instruction.
  • Assesses faculty readiness for clinical teaching assignments through structured check-ins, milestone reviews, and observations.
  • Reinforces understanding of clinical instruction models, course expectations, student safety practices, and clinical site professionalism standards.
  • Supports the implementation and evaluation of clinical mentoring programs during the first
Observation, Coaching, & Support
  • Conducts clinical observations and provides actionable feedback to support early teaching effectiveness and confidence.
  • Supports with simulation observations and feedback for new clinical faculty functioning in the content expert role during simulation experiences.
  • Provides just-in-time coaching, mentoring, problem-solving support, and remediation as needed to clinical faculty.
  • Identifies onboarding risks, readiness concerns, or faculty support needs and escalates appropriately to campus and central leadership.
Campus Support & Partnership
  • Provides functional oversight, coaching, and support to Clinical Faculty Mentor(s) assigned to the campus.
  • Supports Clinical Faculty Mentor(s) training aligned with college and campus expectations.
  • Assists with the selection, training, and evaluation of additional faculty mentors according to the formal faculty mentor program.
  • Partners with campus clinical leadership to align onboarding activities with faculty assignment needs and campus readiness priorities.
  • Provides onboarding progress updates and readiness recommendations for new faculty to both campus and college clinical leadership.
  • Supports the implementation of college-wide onboarding initiatives, process improvements, and faculty development strategies at the campus level.
  • Supports campus leaders in resolving onboarding barriers, scheduling needs, or early faculty performance concerns during the onboarding period.
  • Report successful completion of clinical faculty onboarding to campus leadership, including communication of strengths and continued support needs.
  • Supports ongoing faculty development with direction and recommendations from campus leadership and clinical audit findings.
  • Orients and supports faculty who are new to the clinical faculty role or assigned to new clinical courses.
  • Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Academy to track onboarding progress and faculty readiness metrics and promptly reports any concerns to campus and college leadership as necessary.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Oversees the completion and quality of clinical site visits, grade audits, onboarding checklists, and 90-day evaluations.
  • Analyzes onboarding and early faculty performance data, such as completion timelines, readiness outcomes, and common support trends.
  • Supports campus leadership in addressing onboarding-related compliance issues or faculty performance concerns.
  • Assists with ensuring faculty orientation and onboarding practices align with college policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory expectations.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supports pilot initiatives, audits, and special projects related to clinical faculty onboarding.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:

Education: MSN degree (preferred)

Experience: Must meet the state board of nursing requirements for clinical faculty and have at least two years of experience in clinical education. Must have a nursing background and knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.

  • Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least one (2) years of clinical education experience.
  • Academic nursing certification preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative.
  • Proficient computer skills to collect and analyze data.
Physical & Mental Demands

This position requires the ability to sit at a computer up to 8 hours per day and visit various clinical sites. The following physical and mental demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:

  • Ability to sit at a computer up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to travel to and visit various clinical sites; for a multi-campus position, travel will be required to support all assigned campuses.
  • Frequently communicates verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to read and review documents, data, and on-screen content with close visual attention and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under moderate pressure.
