Rochester Regional Health is hiring for an on-site Per Diem Behavioral Health clinician at St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.

You will perform emergency mental health evaluations, provide crisis intervention, milieu management, and facilitate disposition planning across clinical and community settings. Responsibilities include rapid triage, coordination with psychiatrists, and collaboration with patients’ families and care teams to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

STATUS: Per DiemLOCATION: St. Mary's Campus - 89 Genesee StDEPARTMENT: Behavioral HealthSCHEDULE: RotatingSUMMARYProvides emergency mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, milieu management and dispositional planning for patients needing assessment and intervention in a variety of clinical or community settingsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR Master Degree in human service field OR PhD/PsyD required.2 years relevant experience preferredRequired New York State Licensure / Certification Skills:LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT, permit or license requiredORRN license requiredORIf PhD/PsyD.is held, no license required.RESPONSIBILITIESProvides Emergency mental health evaluations.With the psychiatrists supervision, acts as consultant to assist patient and clinical team with Behavioral Health subject matter expertiseProvides crisis and /or acute mental health intervention to patients presenting to the psychiatric emergency department setting in collaboration with family and significant others.Prioritizes and triages patients requiring immediate psychiatric intervention.Manages all telecommunication, collaboration with internal and external customers, and documentation relevant to the psychiatric patient admission, treatment, and discharge or transfer.Consults with the Team Leader, Manager, and/or Psychiatrist on Call to implement the most appropriate treatment and dispositional plan. Reviews every person evaluated with the psychiatrist to determine the most appropriate treatment and disposition.Provides Behavioral Health evaluations in secure settings, hospital settings, outpatient settings and community locationsProvides Substance use screenings and interventions using evidence based practices like SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, referral to treatment)Attend Monthly scheduled staff meetingsData CollectionAd hoc committee membershipPerforms other duties as assignedEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE.
