Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Clinical Engineering Operations Leader to manage the CE Department(s) at multiple acute care facilities under the National SLA and KPI framework.

You will drive a cost-effective, lifecycle-focused program that lowers maintenance costs, extends equipment life, and delivers exceptional customer service. The role requires on-call rotation, regulatory compliance, and leadership across sites.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in a related field required at hire.
  • Minimum of three years as a supervisor/lead technician in the Clinical Engineering industry (advanced roles require 5 years).
  • Demonstrated financial management skill relevant to Clinical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated regulatory compliant management of a Clinical Engineering program.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the overall operations of one or more CE Departments ensuring SLA deliverables and KPI reviews with hospital leadership.
  • Develops and implements policy and procedures to maintain a fully compliant CE program for each site.
  • Oversees multi-site service strategies, budgets, and staff training for optimal service response and equipment uptime.
  • Manages time and attendance, on-call rotation, and expense reporting for CE staff.
  • Reviews financial operations and develops variance bridge plans to support the department's financial health.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose

This position manages the operations of the Clinical Engineering (CE) Department to provide a regulatory compliant, cost effective program that meets or exceeds the particular quality and financial expectations at one or more acute care facilities in alignment with CommonSpirit Health’s National Clinical Engineering Service Level Agreement (SLA) and applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI). This position is responsible for providing the customer(s) with an aggressive CE program that lowers their annual maintenance costs, increases equipment life cycles, and provides exceptional customer service. This position develops and directs a comprehensive strategic life cycle asset management program for each site and ensures the CE program is valued and trusted as the subject matter expert for pre-purchase evaluations including total life cycle cost analysis.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • Directs the overall operations of one or more CE Departments by:
  • Meeting/exceeding all SLA deliverables and conducting Monthly Operational Report (MOR) meetings to review CE’s KPI results with each hospital leadership team.
  • Developing synergies with key stakeholders, i.e. System Medical Device Security Operations, System IT, Clinical Department leadership and Original Equipment Manufacturers to implement a medical device security program for networked medical equipment across all sites.
  • Develops and ensures the implementation of policy and procedures that result in a fully compliant CE program for each site under their scope.
  • Directs supervisors and/or CE team members in best practices to ensure the financial performance of the department meets or exceeds budget and supports CommonSpirit Health’s financial health. This is accomplished by:
  • Developing and directing an advanced CE program that includes multi-site service strategies to support all medical equipment under their scope.
  • Strategic development of staff training plans that support a multi-site service operation to meet both budget targets and provide optimal service response/equipment uptime.
  • Reviews/approves all financial operations and develops variance bridge plans.
  • Manages direct reports effectively:
  • Directs supervisors and/or CE team members in the development of professional and personal growth that meets the needs of the customer and employees.
  • Manages employee matters in a timely and professional manner using available organizational resources.
  • Ensures accuracy for time and attendance of direct reports.
  • Directs the coordination of on-call rotation and ensures appropriate staffing to meet business commitment.
  • Reviews & approves team member expense reports.
  • Creates SMART team member goals, performs new hire, midyear and annual reviews.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Associates Other in a related field , upon hire.
  • Minimum of three years as a supervisor/lead technician in the Clinical Engineering industry. (Advanced roles require 5 years leading technical teams including direct responsibility for all aspects of staff management).
  • Must have demonstrated financial management skill relevant to the Clinical Engineering industry.
  • Must have demonstrated industry-standard and regulatory compliant management of a Clinical Engineering program.
  • Valid Driver's License

This position requires participation in a rotational on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be available to respond to urgent service needs outside of regular business hours and may be required to return to the facility on short notice.
