Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Clinical Engineer Tech I to join the Edgewood Clinical Engineering Team.

The role focuses on maintaining and testing clinical equipment used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, ensuring safety, reliability and effectiveness in patient care. You’ll perform maintenance, document events, collaborate with staff, and participate in on-call rotations while adhering to regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology or military BMET equivalent.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 6 months servicing medical equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to work first shift and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely corrective and preventative maintenance and quality assurance testing on clinical equipment used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
  • Evaluate equipment problems to engage appropriate staff to resolve mechanical problems.
  • Develop and implement equipment testing procedures.
  • Test new devices and equipment.
  • Document service events in the C.E. database and maintain manuals as per plan.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to address routine and non-routine technical problems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards to promote a safe patient care environment.
  • Work with independent contractors for installation of new equipment and controlled projects.
  • Instruct clinical staff on safety and operation of patient care instruments as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours calls.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Clinical Engineer Tech I to join our Edgewood Clinical Engineering Team. Shift/Hours: Full Time 40 Hours, First Shift Responsible for providing quality, timely, and cost-effective service of clinical equipment used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Ensure medical equipment and instrumentation used for patient care is safe, reliable, and effective. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description
  • Perform timely corrective and preventative maintenance and quality assurance testing on clinical equipment used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
  • Evaluate equipment problems to engage appropriate staff to resolve mechanical problem(s).
  • Develop and implement equipment testing procedures.
  • Test new devices and equipment.
  • Document service events in the C.E. database and maintain service manuals in accordance with the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to address non-routine and routine technical problems.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards for clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to promote a safe and functional patient care environment.
  • Work with independent contractors in the installation of new clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment to ensure technically controlled project.
  • Instruct clinical staff on the safety; proper operation and maintenance of patient care instruments as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for Clinical Engineering Department.
  • Responds to after hours calls related to all clinical equipment supported.
  • Understand and comply with all organizational policies and procedures and operational standards to support a safe and organized work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses

Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology (or related field) OR Military experience equivalent to BMET degree OR High School Diploma/GED AND 6 months of experience servicing medical equipment
