Job description

Demonstrates a basic understanding of engineering disciplines including electronics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, basic TCP/IP networking, desktop computing, and human physiology. Responsible for installing, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, conducting quality assurance, and investigating accidents related to medical technology. Also responsible for maintenance and calibration of medical equipment while ensuring compliance with safety rules, codes, practices, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze medical device performance through preventive maintenance (PM).
  2. Perform calibration of sophisticated medical devices using various test equipment and design patient simulators.
  3. Complete repairs on minor to complex medical equipment.
  4. Maintain UVA medical equipment inventory system.
  5. Ensure compliance with all safety rules, codes, practices, and policies.
  6. Perform initial inspections on medical equipment.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Details:

Compensation Range: $21.52 - $33.36 Hourly

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or post-high school technical training.
  • Experience: 0-3 years relevant experience.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license required.
Physical Demands:

Job requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, climbing ladders, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), walking (1-2 miles/day), and repetitive motions such as keyboard use and driving. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are necessary. Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious diseases, and dust.
